Notes:
1. In this demonstration, Nicolas is using the free, Open Office equivalent of Microsoft PowerPoint. You can download Open Office Impress software from openoffice.org.
2. In the first part of his demonstration, Nicolas shows how to do a Screen Capture. This is a very useful technique to know and the only one that works with many programs, but please note that if you want to turn a whole presentation into a series of pictures by following the procedure demonstrated in the third part of the demonstration. If you have PowerPoint rather than Open office, the procedure is even simpler: click File, Save As, and then choose jpg from the drop down list of file types.
3. Nicolas demonstrates creating a slide show that includes both stills and moving images. This is also useful to know, but remember that in this workshop we will be concentrating on slide shows made with stills. You do not need to include moving images unless you want to.
4. At a certain point, one of his stills appears as a red X in Movie Maker and cannot be viewed. If this happens to you, remember that the most likely cause is that either you moved or renamed the original file. Please do not move or rename the files you are using in a Movie Maker project. Movie Maker needs to access the original files. Another cause could be that you are trying to use a file format not supported by Movie Maker. Before trying anything else, first simply click on the red X, just in case Movie Maker may fix the problem automatically. However, this is not guaranteed to work.
5. Finally, if you start from photos rather than PowerPoint slides, you do not need to capture the photos from the screen. You can import them directly into Movie Maker.
